Common Waters: Securing the Right to Float
- Thu, Mar 19
Run Time: 30 min.
The new film, Common Waters, is out. Join us for this exclusive showing in Crested Butte at the Majestic Theatre. American Whitewater is working with the Responsible River Recreation Alliance to pass legislation in Colorado to ensure the right to float, scout, and portage. Moneyed interests are pushing for the status quo which defines floating on rivers that flow through private property as trespass. That means just a few, wealthy landowners could completely block public access to your favorite runs around the state. This could happen tomorrow, this could happen at any moment. We need your help and your voice to push for change that reflects the values of our communities.
We will have an amazing panel of experts, including Common Waters filmmaker, Cody Perry, to talk through the confusing legal and political landscape. We will also be hosting a prize drawing to raise money for our efforts and a letter writing workshop to send messages to our state lawmakers!
Invite your friends and family and can’t wait to see you at the Majestic Theatre.
Thank you for supporting our mission, your support is invaluable.
